Spring has sprung!

After so much rain it was a little miracle that the sun shone & the daffodils bloomed for this pre wedding shoot with Imogen & Brad in Cornwall park a couple of days ago.  Im turned up with this yellow balloon which was a stroke of genius and tied in perfectly with the sun and the daffodils.  Cornwall park was chosen as it was a special place Imogens grandfather used to walk every day.  Right at the end the balloon broke free and drifted up to the heavens, MAGIC!

Sam Mitchell wins wallace art award

My absolute favorite NZ artist Sam Mitchell (Anna Bibby Gallery) has just won the Wallace Art Award!!! Go Sam! I was spoiled rotten for my last birthday... Dion gave me one of her paintings on perspex titled 'the saint' (a bit of a raunchy affair) and Mum and Dad gave me a beautiful tocan painting. The Karen Walker store in Ponsonby has a couple of her budgies on their glass doors that are worth a look for anyone interested.

Corrine Day RIP

One of my photographic heroes Corrine Day has passed away.  She made Kate Moss famous with her natural reportage style fashion photos.

I Am Love

Being that I love food, Tilda Swinton, all things Italian it was really easy for me to love this movie.  I also managed to escape dreary wet old Auckland for a few hours... and it made me want to learn Italian and go to seafood cooking classes, and visit a field of long grass filled with insects, bella belissima!  XX

Teresa & Mark at Mantells

Teresa & Mark at Hotel De Brett Part 1

As soon as I met Teresa & Mark I felt like I had met kindred spirits!   And when I found out they were getting ready at Hotel de Brett my heart began to sing.  Dion had surprised me with a night there a year or so ago, so I had plenty of time to admire the interiors.... don't you especially love the striped carpet? The interiors are very mid century cool.  Also there is a large natural light artrium which came in very handy on the day as outside it was wild and wet.  We also had to include the famous art deco bar, of course! Soon to come.... venturing outside into the wild weather & their wedding at Mantells.

Rugby World Cup Rental

Just in case any of you know someone who would like to rent a house during the Rugby World Cup in central Auckland!  Only 1KM from the Sky Tower in Freemans Bay.  Its a very peaceful spot with a courtyard garden.  I have set up a blog of photos here.  The highlight of the house is an amazing view of the sky tower while you are having a shower (with the lights off ha ha)

Super Cool

A couple of weeks ago I photographed the coolest couple in the coolest location.  The striped carpet is a bit of a hint.  More to come....

Morning Walks

My favorite was to start the day is walk through Western Park with Dion and Eddie (little big ear), a Dizengoff coffee, stopping to chat to all the regular dogs and humans along the way.  It feels like we live  in a village even though we live in the centre of Auckland.

For my last birthday my lovely sister Kate put together two whole albums.  One of all the times we shared together when we were growing up.  The other one was full of all the photos our proud Mum took of us wearing matching outfits she had lovingly sewn for us.  (Don't you just love vintage photos) Thanks sis, I will treasure them! XX
